Your dragon grows over time. You need to eat and drink to survive to the adult stage. Dragons can fly, they can swim, they can walk, run, trot, and even sleep! This is undeniable, it happens all the time. This is just one of those games where lag can be a real impact.

It's not like for example dead by daylight - where you'll be running into a wall and automatically D. And then you will suddenly pop back up in the original direction you were heading. For example - if someone that picks you up as you're a hatchling, and one of you lag, the person picking you up might even look like he's flying under the map. Until whoever is lagging recollects their connection and it all looks normal again. I don't exactly need to explain how lag works.

It's especially impactful in DoD, however. It even happens with FS players spitting fire. They'll be miles away from you and somehow still reach you. If I recall correctly, it was his first week of DoD. To be specific, I assume it was his third or fourth day of playing the game. Prior to playing the game he already had 2k hours on Isle Legacy, so he picked up on the survival-concept of Day of Dragons pretty quickly.

On his third or so day, he started annoying a few clans a little bit. To be specific, he was targeting the ones chilling by populated areas such as BR - which would mostly be and. He would land as an adult FS, spit fire and kill some of their SS or whatever, and then fly away. You could say he was a nuisance to them. Upon doing that, as expected, at least angered members of the clan would start furiously and radically chasing him. However, he apparently managed to escape most of the time.

Because of desync. One time during his little quarrel with - I was in his VC-stream witnessing it. It was funny and all, but this turned out to be the last quarrel he would ever have with any clan, ever. He was be chased by the clan and would be lagging as usual. From their perspective it looked like he was heading one direction, but then suddenly changed course. This is how they repeatedly lost him. It would be the issue of rubberbanding. The clan then called an admin on him, and some admin named "NathanTenticles" started following him with the clan.

This doesn't happen that rarely, btw. I've had other people tell me admins occasionally follow players as clans chase them down, lol. I was in his voicechat while this happened. We were all laughing at the fact that they got an admin on him and called him a wizard in chat, oblivious to what would happen next. After escaping their clan, he played a bit more, lost a few dragons, logged off, took some time to do IRL stuff or whatever, logged back on and then tried to join US1 once more.

He couldn't. I couldn't help but laugh a little bit. The fact that someone got banned for something so immensely innocent. This man got banned for lagging. He then decided to e-mail the head-admin Tenshi. He expressed his utter confusion, frustration and anger upon his banishment. He went on to explain that he never did anything that broke the rules. Never cheated, nothing. It was simply unfair.

Even went on to mention how the ban was probably due to his lag - and asked why. Instead of providing proof, explaining how he got banned or even addressing any of his points - Tenshi responded: "Hello I have received your email My name is Tenshi Kurama Head Admin of Day of Dragons. Your banishment stands" And yes, that is a direct quote from TenshiKurama's response. It is weird. So weird.

How could someone get banned for something that happens so, so frequently? Something so absurdly normal? Lag, of all things? I've seen many, many, many people lag during fights. Even I lag during fights sometimes, and people I chase lag during fights. Not even only during fights, normal interactions too! Lag happens so often in this game. Yet have I never heard of someone getting banned for it. And I find it sort of weird that as soon as someone lags in favor against - an admin instantly appears and they get banned.

If this escalates even further, I'll be posting recorded conversations with certain people I've talked to. One of the conversations features a description from someone that witnessed an admin co-operating with in the past, showing nametags to them in their favor.

This person was an active chieftain. Might even have to make a whole vid on it. Keep also an eye on , as I've heard they are involved with cheats. A white FS in particular was seen cheating, allegedly from.

Ask questions, I'm positive I'll be able to respond regardless of what it is. I've played Day of Dragons for nearly 2, hours across five different steam accounts, nearly 1, on this one alone. I'm the founder of an old clan in US Server 4 and have been playing close to the beta's release in August With that in mind--Do not purchase this game unless it's free.

And even then, go into it with healthy skepticism. Truly I have NEVER seen a developer team with this amount of incompetency, which is sad, because I really think there are some passionate developers somewhere buried under the non-sense. It's really disheartening to see this game in such a state because I've met a TON of good people through Day of Dragons. And really, they're the only reason I keep coming back. I'm not a game dev. I'm not a creative director.

I know that my understanding of what is needed to make a good game is lacking. However, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the model right now isn't working.

Use the funds to hirer new additions to the team to help with development, security, coding, literally anything to get this game off the ground.

I implore the team to do better because I want to see this game succeed. However, in it's current state, I'd never recommend this game to anyone else. Lets talk about the good first, The current admin team is helpful and kind, my buddy and I couldn't find food crabs and we assumed it was a bug, but the admin on our server US-4 PVP came to check it out and in a sly manner informed us that its just not a good place for food where we were, didn't outright tell us, so we had to figure out the information he gave us, but nonetheless, helpful.

The admins do a good job dealing with objectively toxic players, if you play on a PVP server, expect to be killed, yes, even as a baby. However they do a good job making sure people aren't ruining the fun of the game by players being horrible to each other EX.

Even in PVP there are nice players, and in non PVP servers, most are welcoming, it is fairly easy to meet and play with people in this game. The flight and ground mechanics are very smooth, it involves skill to do it properly, but there is alot of skill involved in some aspects of the game, especially if you're in a PVP server with air combat.

There is progression in the form of becoming an elder dragon, mating and breeding, clan building, PVP aspects such as where you want to live, and getting the skin genetics you want. The map is gigantic and there's lots to explore. The dragons available are unique, have their own skills and are better at different aspects.

The game world is untame, although graphically dated a bit, fun to explore and expansive. The models are very nice, and have great detail quality. There are skins that look very nice, and many dragons look unique. The breeding system is in depth, it adds another layer of gameplay, though at times give players in established clans a signifigant advantage. A very fun play with friends. Although they do update the steam activity feed now and again, following their discord is the way to get information, and they often post alot of it.

The playable dragons without breeding modifiers are pretty well balanced depending on what they excel at. Now the bad; Dying is rather punishing as an adult, or even more so, an elder. If you play a flame stalker, that dragon take 4 real time hours to become a full sized adult, and to become an elder, you have to find 80 of these mushrooms to become an elder, or wait 12 hours and log on to become an elder for one tick equivalent to eating a single mushroom.

These mushrooms aren't easily available, there are limited spawn locations, where many of these locations could have the wrong colored mushrooms, and you don't get the progress, additonally, you're competing for them with 99 other dragons that know exactly where they are, and they rarely go alone, often with their clan, whom sit in the areas and guard and control the zones, gatekeeping other players.

Then these mushrooms are on a min timer where it MAY spawn the correct mushroom, and if you die, all that hard work is gone.

This could be fixed easily however by randomizing the mushroom spawns to cover the entire map, and giving players more reasons to explore the entire map and making it less of a brutal chore.

These problems are very much so a MMO feeling system in a survival game. The clan system: There's alot to be said about this in a animal survival game, but the mushroom thing is a good example. Every game like this has the group mechanic, a temporary team where you survive together, which is cool, it works well, people rotate around and play with other people; its alot of fun. In addition to not being able to access the end game content because of them and their superior breeding, you'll just die with an insanely slim chance of survival.

Forcing you to join a clan. Often like many games with shorter term clan systems, the most powerful clan often becomes toxic, they dominate the server aimlessly killing other players for no reason, making the game less appealing for a newer playerbase to play. For a game that has been released in early access for almost 2 years, this is a problem. In my opinion, that logic seems unreasonable. I was very surprised to see a DLC dragon.

Now you may use a select amount of skins as a player, and can breed into skins, including ones only available to kickstarter backers, which I think is very fair, though I wish there was a way to buy said skins. However from what I understand, in the 1. Locking the limited available content such as playable characters when it comes out with no way now to freely access them permanently is too much. Others may not feel that way, however if they want to find a new player base, changing your stance on this or making it an expensive DLC to compensate those who backed the game could benifit both the players and developers.

Lack of PVE content, if you wanted it, there's not much here unless you wanna kill crabs all day, because that's the only PVE stuff you can do. They say in the new map they're adding new things to kill and eat, a sand worm thing, some turtles, some fishes, maybe some flying bird guys, and a massive sand wyrm boss guy.

We're missing weather, that would make a huge difference, a thunderstorm that grounds flyers is a is a buffet for vile spitters, cinamatic battles in dynamic weather would be and incredible feature and can also counter some of the problems with clans.

Things to be said from other reviews and state of the game; One big thing to be said is that for an undetermined amount of time, they've been dealing with hackers, they've been very transparent about the situation, and that its affected the game both inside and outside of the game itself. That being said, from their most recent posts they've found multiple causes of their attacks and have solved many, if not all of their problems.

I absolutely commend them on this stance to this problem and dealing with it for not only the players and game safety, but their own. With that in mind and understanding its been an issue for around 6 - 8 months, please keep in mind that will absolutely eat up all of the time that could've been spent on development, and it had to be taken as priority 1.

Though I do want my points of a lack of development to still be known, especially on the playable dragons. I fully expect to rewrite my review when 1. My daughter has been playing this and talked me into playing also. One breathes fire and is pretty clunky the other is more like toothless from how to train your dragon- slightly more nimble but more fragile.

Flight is absolutely awful in this game. Nothing about it is intuitive or natural. Make the mouse control the direction w- accelerate, s- slow down. Combat is rough also, I had no idea dragons were so slow and can barely turn. Not really much counterplay or strategy other than try and get your opponent out of stamina so they cant run away and kill them.

Most of the time its both of you in a circle left clicking hoping you bite the other one to death first. Not really any sort of indicator that you landed any hits other than blood on the ground if turned on in the menu sometimes the dragons make sounds when hit but it just sounds like regular ole dragon noises and doesn't relay it was from a hit.

Death animations- lol your dragon literally just falls over still in a standing position. I understand that the game says it is in beta but it was released on steam back in Everything from the environments, ui, dragon progression, creature selection, growth, and basic actions need work.

Instead of having to hold down a button until the action is completed. At the moment stamina depletion is at a good amount, Yet the issue is recovery. The recovery currently takes around minutes which is honestly the longest I have ever had to wait in any game ever! It doesn't even budge while you walk, instead you have to stand still in order to recover any. As stated before it also requires the player to hold down its button until the action has been completed.

Color lines will appear leading you to their corresponding scented locations. Each line will disappear after passing where another corresponding line leading in the same direction will appear a little ways off from the first.

After which the scent disappears completely. The scent path system needs to be made more extensive, with the scent paths lasting much longer with better guiding paths to get there. The foliage is nice with good draw distances. However the issue mainly pertains to its survival mechanics, wildlife, and sound. Puddles of water that look the same, poisonous mushrooms, and insect like enemies. Of course the worst part goes to the audio more than anything else.

The only noises results from stepping on the occasional twig or performing actions. That's it, the rest of the land is completely devoid of any noise whatsoever. Consisting of four dragons and one elemental. You heard me right, this is a beta with a dlc already
